Carrollton, Ky. - October 20, 2020 - Carroll County’s own Beau Arney has been hired as the Carroll County School District’s new athletic director. Arney is taking on the position after Paul Stone retired in September.
“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Beau Arney will be the new athletic director for the Carroll County School District,” said Superintendent Danny Osborne. “Mr. Arney comes to us with a tremendous amount of coaching and training experience both in a scholastic and in a private-sector setting. If you know Mr. Arney, you know he is a passionate, driven individual. He is committed to using athletics as a way to provide tremendous experiences for our students, and I am excited to see our athletic program develop under his leadership.”
Arney’s previous coaching experience in the Carroll County School District spans from 2004 to 2012, when he served as head strength and conditioning coach as well as assistant coach for the basketball and football programs. Arney also has personal training experience as well as experience managing a gym.
“I see the athletic director position as a liaison between the student-athletes and the teachers,” Arney said. “Bridging the gap between athletes and academics can help kids who might be struggling in class to get the help they need. I want to ensure that our student-athletes are students first. Sports provide an avenue for release physically and emotionally, which helps kids in all areas of their lives. Sports did that for me, and I want the same for our kids today.”
Arney is a 1996 graduate of Morehead State University, where he majored in exercise science. Before his time at Morehead, he ran track and played basketball at Carroll County High School, where he graduated in 1990.
“This is a big step for our athletic program and our school district,” Osborne said. “We are committed to providing our students with opportunities to develop character and learn to work as part of a team. Our athletic director is a key part of that effort, and Mr. Arney is the perfect person for the job.”
Arney’s duties as athletic director begin in the coming weeks.
