ATC welding shop

Exciting changes are coming to the Carroll County Area Technology Center, thanks to a $5 million grant from the School Facilities Construction Commission.

The funding will allow for construction of a new welding workshop. The new 5,500-square-foot welding workshop will be built at the end of the existing school building. Plans include 20 state-of-the-art welding stations, dedicated classroom space, a CNC plasma cutting station, and other hands-on learning areas that reflect the tools and technologies used in the welding field.

ā€œIn our research and data analysis, we believe this will help us meet the growing workforce demand of our local industry and community,ā€ Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes said.

The grant was made possible through funds allocated by the 2024 Kentucky General Assembly to upgrade eligible Secondary Area Technology Centers across the state. Currently, the Carroll County ATC serves around 300 students from Carroll, Trimble, Henry, Owen, and Gallatin counties.

Construction is anticipated to begin next year and take approximately one year.
