Jefferson Community & Technical Collegeās Carrollton campus hosted the annual Going Pro Future 42 signing day this week. Five Carroll County students joined this program that will help them obtain an education and employment.
Dylan Service, Juan Corrales Munguia, Kyan Johnson, Dylan Marsh and Chris Perez all participated in the ceremonial signing to āgo proā with Future 42.
āYou will be the ones who keep industry running safely and smoothly,ā Ty Handy, president of JCTC said to the students assembled for the signing day. āYou are the minds behind the machines.ā
Future 42 is a partnership between industries situated along the U.S. 42 corridor, JCTC and area high schools. It offers students an opportunity to receive training on a skill related to high-demand and high-paying jobs at our local industries. Students can study Applied Process Technologies, Engineering & Electronics Technology, Welding Technology or General Occupational and Technical Studies.
Jordan Reardon, a JCTC graduate and employee at Dow, spoke to the crowd about his experience and the benefits.
āMy career is full of examples of JCTC helping me out,ā he said, noting he began working in 2011 as an intern at Dow. āI knew what I was doing because of the experience and knowledge I got at JCTC.ā
Reardon was instrumental in creating a three-part training skid at Dow that will be used by the Applied Process Technology students. The skids were on display for public viewing at the Future 42 Going Pro signing day.
āWhen education and industry come together, weāre building a future that strengthens our entire region,ā JCTC Carrollton Campus Director Heather Yocum said to the crowd.
