CCHS Project-Based Learning students Lillian Ball, Blake Harney, Layton Fornash and Hunter Angell are tackling what is being dubbed the boardwalk project šŸ› ļøšŸŒæ. They are working to build an eight-foot wooden walkway/driving surface between the pond and the baseball field’s right field fence 🪵⚾.

This project will allow extra room for mowers, golf carts and people to utilize that section of ground šŸšœšŸ›ŗšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø. It could also become part of the cross country course that has been created on the opposite end of the pond šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸŒ³.

The platform is going to be a cantilever style with a handrail and ramps on each end šŸ§°šŸ“.

The goal for all PBL/WBL students is to attain 300 hours of successful employment and be considered career ready at graduation šŸŽ“šŸ’¼. Those students who are career ready receive a notation on their diploma and a cord to wear at graduation šŸŽ–ļøšŸŽ‰.

Volunteers Alice Marsh, Michelle Stewart and Janice Loveless worked in the Carroll County Middle School food pantry to organize items following a large donation from the Family Worship Center. šŸ™ŒšŸ’™
The district, as a whole, received approximately 4,402 items valued at $1,500. šŸ›’šŸ’°Those items were distributed among the schools for their school-level food pantries, which are used to fill Backpack Buddies and provide any other food assistance that students need. šŸŽ’šŸ„«Thank you to the generous community partners at Family Worship Center. šŸ™ā›Ŗ
If you would like to make a donation to our Backpack Buddies Program, please contact Amanda New at 502-662-0590. šŸ“žšŸ¤

Carroll County High School’s newest program, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), held its official ribbon cutting ceremony last week. āœ‚ļøšŸŽ‰

JAG is an elective class that helps equip students with the academic support šŸ“š, employability skills šŸ’¼, and personal development 🌱 needed to thrive in high school and beyond , whether they pursue post-secondary education šŸŽ“, enter the workforce āš™ļø, or join the military . It focuses on career readiness, leadership development, and life-skills through project-based learning (PBL) and mentorship.

Students also have access to a specialist who provides mentorship šŸ‘„, connects them to resources šŸ”—, and tracks their progress for a full year after they graduate from CCHS šŸŽ“.

🌿 Fifth graders spent time learning in the outdoor classroom at Camp KYSOC recently.
As part of their social studies unit, students used only natural materials they found on the ground, nothing living, to build miniature versions of Native American homes. šŸ‚

Most groups created small teepees using twigs, leaves and moss. šŸ•ļø
It was a simple, hands-on way to connect their lesson to the outdoors. šŸŒ³šŸ“š

Tough times come for everyone, but how we show up for each other makes all the difference. šŸ’ŖāœØ

A group of CCHS students and staff recently spent the day training to become Sources of Strength peer leaders. Students were chosen for their ability to uplift, support, and inspire their classmates. 🐾⭐

Through interactive games and activities, student and adult leaders explored the core components of Sources of Strength, discussed common stressors, and learned how to help peers tap into their own strengths to overcome challenges. šŸ§ šŸ’™

We’re proud of these incredible Panthers for stepping up to make CCHS a stronger, more supportive community! šŸ™ŒšŸ–¤šŸ’›
